ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's golf team is readying to compete for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's (MIAA) Automatic Bid to the NCAA DIII National Championships later this spring. In preparation for that event, the Thunder have lined up a tough slate for their spring season.
Trine men's golf tees off during the week of spring break when the team travels south to Berkeley Hills Country Club in Duluth, Georgia to face Oglethorpe University on March 9. Once the weather breaks in Angola, the Thunder will host the Brit-Thunder Cup at Zollner Golf Course on April 4. That event is a match play event head-to-head with Albion College.
On April 7-8, Trine will play at Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Illinois for the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational. The Steven Tyler Memorial at The Moors Golf Club in Portage, Michigan on April 10 marks the final event prior to the MIAA Automatic Qualifiers.
After scoring a second-place finish at the fall championships, Trine will host the opening round of the MIAA Automatic Qualifier at Glendarin Hills Golf Club on April 15. Rounds two and three on April 21-22 will be at Wuskowhan Players Club, the home course for Hope College. In between postseason rounds, the Thunder will host their annual AC Eddy Invitational event at Zollner Golf Course on April 18.
