Thunder Top Conference Competitors at Illinois Wesleyan Invitational

NORMAL, Ill. – On day two of the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational, the Trine University men's golf team finished in a tie for 12th among 37 teams. The Thunder picked up two spots from their day one total by shooting a combined 308 on Saturday afternoon. Trine was the top Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) squad at the event, topping Hope College, Calvin University and Kalamazoo College.

After day one action at Ironwood Golf Course, the second round for the Thunder emanated from Weibring Golf Course.

Charlie Eriksen had the best score of the day by going 1-over 72 in the second round. He finished in a tie for 28th individually with birdies on holes three, six, seven and ten. His two-day total was 151 (79-72). One stroke back of Eriksen was Mark Civanich in a tie for 39th. He fired a second round 77 and completed the event with a 152 (75-77).

Carter Schnipke scored a 156 (77-79) with a second round 79. He kept all 18 holes within par and bogey to finish in a tie for 83rd. Carter Rang and Mitch Lowney tied in the second round with dueling scores of 80. Each of them birdied the par-4 second hole, but from there, the rounds took a bit of a dive. Rang tied for 93rd at 157 (77-80) and Lowney tied for 105th at 158 (78-80).

Competing as an individual, Kyler Rod secured a two-day score of 161 (78-83). Rod went for par on nine holes on Saturday.

It is a quick turnaround for the Thunder as they compete in the Steven Tyler Memorial on Monday, April 10 at The Moors Golf Club in Portage, Michigan.
