Thunder Remain Third After Round Two of MIAA AQ

WEST OLIVE, Mich. – The Trine University men's golf team put together some quality rounds at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Automatic Qualifier second round on Friday afternoon at the Wuskowhan Players Club. The Thunder were second on the day with a team score of 308 and were four strokes back of Adrian College.

Trine remains in third overall, but gained one stroke on the leader, Hope College. The Flying Dutch lead the standings through 36 holes with a total score of 599. Adrian is second at 607 and Trine third at 613.

Mitch Lowney led the team with a 1-over 72 on the course. He started his round strong with a birdie on the second hole and added two more on holes 12 and 18. Lowney had 11 pars on his scorecard. Carter Schnipke registered two birdies en route to a score of 78. He finished in a tie for ninth overall. Schnipke hit for birdie on hole two as well as the par-3 15th hole.

Mark Civanich and Charlie Eriksen tied for 12th with matching 79's. Eriksen had three birdies while Civanich recorded two. Each of them started their rounds on the right foot but struggled to close late in the round. Carter Rang carded an 89 to finish 21st.

The final round to decide the conference's representative to the NCAA National Championships will be held at Wuskowan Players Club once again on Saturday afternoon beginning at 11 a.m.
