Trine Fourth in MIAA Jamboree #2

MUSKEGON, Mich. – The standings closed up at Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #2 on Monday afternoon at Muskegon Country Club. Adrian College was the team champion with a score of 301, one stroke ahead of Hope College. Calvin University (307) and the Trine University men's golf team (308) were third and fourth on the leaderboard.

After 36 holes of conference play, Calvin has taken a one-stroke lead over the Thunder and now the Flying Dutch of Hope have entered into a tie for second place. After the win in MIAA Jamboree #2, the Adrian Bulldogs draw closer to the top of the league standings and separate themselves from the rest of the pack.

Trine was led by senior Mark Civanich, who tied for fifth on the playerboard with a 2-over 75. Senior Charlie Eriksen was also inside the top-10 in a tie for seventh after firing a 76.

Sophomores Carter Schnipke and Asher Caldwell both shot under the 80 plateau with Schnipke tied for 15th with a 78 and Caldwell a 79 to tie for 17th. Junior Wade Shafer struggled on Monday with an 86 to enter into a tie for 38th overall.

Competing as an individual, junior Kyler Rod was able to match Caldwell with a round of 79 (tied for 17th).

The Thunder play host to their conference competition on Saturday, September 30 for MIAA Jamboree #3 at Zollner Golf Course beginning at 1 p.m.
