MIAA Jamboree #3 Sees Men's Golf Place Second

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's golf team was second overall on their home course as the Thunder hosted Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #3 at Zollner Golf Course on Saturday afternoon.

Trine fired a 293, but Hope College was under-par as a team with a 281 to secure the top spot at the event and in the MIAA standings. The Thunder were able to top Calvin University by three strokes on Saturday and have jumped them in the league table to remain second overall.

Mark Civanich had the second-lowest score of the day as he missed the individual medalist honors by one stroke. His 3-under 68 is his lowest round of the conference season. After starting on hole 10, Civanich struggled with only pars and one bogey on his first seven holes, but back-to-back birdies on holes 17 and 18 sparked a quality front for the senior.

Carter Schnipke had the most birdies on the scoring team with five en route to a score of 73. He finished in a tie for 11th and hit under-par on three of the first five holes on the course. Charlie Eriksen tied for 20th after dominating the back nine. He would turn in a scorecard of 75.

The final two members of the team were Asher Caldwell and Wade Shafer. Caldwell tied for 25th in the field after hitting a 77. Shafer tied for 36th at 79. Out of the five individuals for Trine, the best of those was Joe Hawk, who found himself inside the top-five with a 72. Colin Crumrine (74), Kyler Rod (75), Carter Rang (77) and Jakob Allman (78) were also in action at the event.

The final conference event of the fall takes place on Wednesday, October 11 at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Michigan as Olivet College hosts.
