Region V Preview Sees Trine Sixth Through First Round

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – On day one of the Region V Preview at the Warren Golf Course at the University of Notre Dame, the Trine University men's golf team finds themselves sixth in a field of 16 of the top teams in the region. The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology paced the field with a score of 295 on Monday, with the Thunder firing a 312.

Seniors Charlie Eriksen and Mark Civanich led the way for the team with scores of 74 (tied for 3rd) and 75 (tied for 11th). They both hit for eagle on the par-5 5th hole and Eriksen had a team-high 11 pars. Eriksen hit for birdie on hole 10 and Civanich hole 17. Civanich went 1-under on the front nine.

Sophomore Carter Schnipke wrapped up play with an 81. He hit for par on nine of the holes, split somewhat even among the front and back. Sophomore Asher Caldwell concluded pay with an 82 and junior Colin Crumrine an 83. Each of them hit for birdie on the par-5 17th hole. Individual scorer junior Kyler Rod shot a 76 on Monday to find himself tied for 15th.

The second and final round of the event takes place on Tuesday, October 24 beginning at 10 a.m.
