HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Sophomore Carter Schnipke was named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week following his performance at the Lourdes Invitational. The Trine University men's golf team has now won the weekly award for two straight weeks, and it is the fourth time this season a Trine men's golfer has been tabbed Athlete of the Week.
This is the first career Athlete of the Week award for the Ottoville, Ohio native. Schnipke led the Thunder to a team victory at the Lourdes Invitational. Trine shot a 299 on the afternoon to beat second-place Siena Heights University by nine strokes.
Schnipke hit an even-par 72 at The Legacy Golf Club with four birdies. The sophomore went four-under on the back nine with birdies on holes 11, 13, 14 and 18 to secure a spot on the All-Tournament Team at the event.
The Thunder host the AC Eddy Invitational on Tuesday, April 16 at Zollner Golf Course. Tee time is at 1 p.m.
