Trine Ties for Third at AC Eddy Invitational; Schnipke Medalist

ANGOLA, Ind. – In Tuesday's AC Eddy Invitational at Zollner Golf Course, the Trine University men's golf team finished in a tie for third as a team, but sophomore Carter Schnipke was an individual medalist after an even-par 71 was the best round recorded. Huntington University shot a 293 as a team to claim the team trophy, while the Thunder had a 302.

Schnipke's day was highlighted by a chip-in for eagle on the par-4 ninth hole. He was two-under before making the turn and added an additional birdie on hole 18, a par-5.

Mark Civanich tied for fifth after firing a 73. He hit for birdie on the ninth hole thanks to a long putt to start a string of three birdies in four holes. It was a consistent day for Kyler Rod, who was 22nd with a 78. He hit 12 pars in total.

The final two scoring members included Asher Caldwell and Joe Hawk. Caldwell recorded three birdies on the back nine to finish 31st with an 80. Hawk carded an 84 with a birdie on the 16th hole.

Garrett James led the other Trine players with a 74, giving him a top-ten finish. James had three birdies, each on a different hole type (par three, four and five).

Postseason play begins for men's golf at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships on April 26-27 at The Legacy Golf Club.
