Men's Hockey Falls to Marian

FOND DU LAC, WISC. -- The Trine NCAA men's hockey team was defeated by Marian University by the score of 9-2.

The Thunder fell behind early giving up three goals in the first period. The third, which would end up being the game-winner for the Sabres, was one of three for senior forward Derek Thorogood on the night.

Trine's first goal of the contest came from senior captain Lucas Bombardier (Pittsford, Vt.) in the seventh minute of the second period. The goal was his team-leading second goal of the season, both of which have been unassisted.

Forward Alex Johanson (Skokie, Ill.) would score the second goal for the Thunder on the power play in the fifth minute of the third period. Senior forward Ryan Murray (Farmington Hills, Mich.) tallied the assist on the goal.

Two goaltenders saw time between the pipes for Trine in the match. Sophomore Brett Young (Livonia, Mich.) made 16 saves, while Aaron Brickman (St. Louis, Mo.) finished off the game with 12 saves of his own.

Trine will take the ice again tomorrow, Nov. 4, when they travel to Lawrence University for a 5:00 p.m. game.
