Lawrence Pulls Away From Trine in the Third Period

APPLETON, WISC. – The Trine NCAA men's hockey team were defeated by Lawrence University by the score of 6-2.

The first goal in the game, came in the seventh minute of the first period when Lawrence took the early lead. The Thunder would respond before the end of the period however, when junior forward Jackson Tucker (Mathews, N.C.) took a pass from senior forward Lucas Bombardier (Pittsford, Vt.) and buried his first goal of the season.

Trine would give up a the first of four power-play goals with just 14 seconds left in the first period to enter the first intermission down 2-1.

Lawrence and Trine would trade goals in the second, with the Thunder's coming in the last minute of the period. Sophomore forward Tanner Bennett (Columbus, Ind.) would tally the goal with freshman forwards Carmine Taffo (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Corey Robertson (South Lyon, Mich.) recording the assists. With the goal, Trine would enter the second intermission once again only trailing by one with a 3-2 score.

Lawrence would pull away in the third period, taking advantage of power-play opportunities for three goals for the 6-2 win.

Sophomore Brett Young (Livonia, Mich.) got the start for the Thunder and spent the entire game between the pipes. He would end the game with 33 saves.

The Thunder next take the ice on Friday, Nov. 10 when they travel to nationally-ranked St. Norbert College for an 8:00 p.m. game.
