Thunder Fall to Bulldogs

ANGOLA, IND. -- The Trine men's NCAA hockey team was defeated by nationally-ranked Adrian College by the score of 6-3.

The Bulldogs started the scoring early, when just over two minutes into the game, Austin Rust put it past the goaltender.

The Thunder responded just six minutes later when senior forward Ryan Murray (Farmington Hills, Mich.) blocked a shot in the defensive end, took the puck the length of the ice and deked around the goaltender for his first goal of the season. Trine was unable to take a tie into the first intermission, however, as Adrian scored a late goal to give them a 2-1 lead after the first period.

In the second, the Bulldogs padded their lead scoring two goals and taking a 3-1 lead into the intermission. They would add another two goals in the third to reach their six in the game.

Despite trailing the Thunder did not give in finding the back of the net twice in the third period. While down a man, freshman forward Sammy Nardicchio (Commerce, Mich.) would steal the puck and take it the length of the ice for the short-handed goal. The goal was his first of the season.

The final goal of the game was a power play goal scored by freshman defenseman Josh Hinderliter (Wyandotte, Mich.), his second of the season. Hinderliter recovered a rebounded shot in front of the net and put it past the netminder for the goal. Both Murray and fellow senior Lucas Bombardier (Pittsford, Vt.) would record assists on the goal.

Sophomore Brett Young (Livonia, Mich.) was the goalie of record for the Thunder. He would finish his night with 40 saves.

Trine will finish the weekends slate of games by traveling to Adrian for a 7 p.m. contest tomorrow, Nov. 18.
