Trine Offense Rolls Early in 5-2 Victory over King’s

PITTSTON, PA. – The Trine men's NCAA hockey team finished off the weekend sweep of King's (Pa.) College this afternoon by the score of 5-2. Five different members of the Thunder would score in the win, which extends their unbeaten streak to five games.

Trine started the game with three unanswered goals, all coming in the first period. Freshmen forwards Sammy Nardicchio (Commerce, Mich.), Corey Robertson (South Lyon, Mich.) and defender Ben Lau (Prospect, Ky.) would each score in the period. Robertson's goal, which would turn out to be the game-winner, is his team high sixth of the season.

The lone goal of the second period was scored by the Monarchs who would go into the second intermission trailing 3-1.

King's would pull within one in the sixth minute of the final period on a power play goal. The Thunder responded in the 13th minute with a goal of their own coming from junior forward Chris Timm (Dublin, Calif.) and would ice the game in the 19th minute with an empty-netter from freshman forward Max DiCicco (Howell, Mich.).

Sophomore Brett Young (Livonia, Mich.) started for the Thunder in net and finished the game with 16 saves and his fourth victory of the season.

Trine improves to 4-9-2 with the victory. They will look to continue their streak when they return to conference play on Friday, January 12 with a home game against Aurora University. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
