Two Goals for Moulakelis not Enough, Team Falls 5-2

MILWAUKEE, WIS. – The Trine NCAA men's hockey team pulled out to an early lead but fell to the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) by the score of 5-2.

The Thunder scored the lone goal of the first period when freshman forward Niko Moulakelis (Prairie View, Ill.) took a pass from junior forward Chris Timm (Dublin, Calif.) and put it past the Raiders' goaltender. The goal was Moulakelis's second of the season. The Thunder took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

MSOE pulled ahead of the Thunder with two goals in the first 11 minutes of the second period. Trine got the equalizer in the 14th minute of the period, when Moulakelis scored his second goal of the evening. Freshman forward Max DiCicco (Howell, Mich.) and freshman defender Blake Robertson (South Lyon, Mich.) added assists on the goal.

The Raiders pulled away with three unanswered goals to finish the game with the 5-2 victory.
Sophomore Brett Young (Livonia, Mich.) got the start for the Thunder and finished the game with 44 saves, despite giving up the five goals.

Following the loss the Thunder fall to 4-13-2 overall and 0-10-2 in the NCHA. Their next game will take place at home on Friday, January 26 at 7 p.m. when they take on Finlandia University.
