Thunder Fall to Foresters

LAKE FOREST, ILL. – The Trine men's NCAA hockey team fell by the score of 6-1 to Lake Forest College.

The Thunder surrendered two goals in each period to the Foresters and were never able to get the offense going in the game. Trine was outshot 44-18 in the game.

Sophomore Brett Young (Livonia, Mich.) got the start for the Thunder. He surrendered two goals, including the game-winner, in the first period. The Foresters took the 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

Freshman Vinny Evans (Pittsburgh, Pa.) took over in goal and would finish off the game for Trine. The change did not work, as Lake Forest would add two more goals in the period and take a 4-0 lead into the final stanza.

Two minutes into the third period, the Thunder finally cracked the scoreboard. Senior forward Lucas Bombardier (Pittsford, Vt.) tallied the goal, his sixth of the season. Freshman forward Sammy Nardicchio (Commerce, Mich.) added his fifth assist of the year.

The Foresters would add two more goals to finish off the 6-1 victory.
They finish off the weekend slate of games tomorrow, Feb. 3 at 5 p.m. when they take on Aurora University.
