Men's Hockey Defeated by MSOE

ANGOLA, IND. – The Trine men's NCAA hockey team pulled out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on, falling the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) by the score of 2-1.

Both teams would go scoreless in the first period taking a 0-0 tie into the second.
In the 14th minute of the second period the Thunder broke the tie. Senior forward Ryan Murray (Farmington Hills, Mich.) started the play by winning a faceoff in the offensive end, passing the puck back to the blue-line where teammate freshman defender Chris Garrity (Stafford, Va.) was waiting. Garrity fired off a shot that went just wide and rebounded back in front of the goal. Murray was waiting to tap the puck into the backside of the goal for his fifth goal of the season.

Trine would take the 1-0 lead into the third stanza. But the Raiders would come away with goals in the first and last minute of the period to finish with the 2-1 victory.

Sophomore Brett Young (Livonia, Mich.) once again got the start in net for the Thunder and came away with 36 saves despite giving up the two goals.

The game was Trine's final one of the season. They end their inaugural season with a 6-17-2 record all and a 2-14-2 record in the NCHA.
