Men's Hockey Defeated by Stout

MENOMONIE, Wis. -- The Trine University men's hockey team was defeated by host University of Wisconsin-Stout by the score of 3-0.

The two teams seemed evenly matched through the first period as both teams went into the locker room at intermission scoreless.

The Blue Devils began to pull away in the second coming away with two goals to take a 2-0 lead into the second intermission. They would add another goal in the third to finish the game up 3-0.

Junior Brett Young (Livonia, Mich.) got the start in net for the Thunder and, despite giving up the three goals, played well in his season debut. Young finished the night with 33 saves.

Offensively sophomore Alex Johanson (Skokie, Ill.) led the way for Trine with five shots on goal in the contest.

Trine will continue their road trip tomorrow when they face off with the number two team in the country according to the USCHO preseason poll. The Thunder will travel to face the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 8 p.m. eastern time / 7 p.m. central time.
