Thunder Outpaced by #3 Green Knights

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University men's hockey team was outpaced by visiting, nationally-ranked St. Norbert College by the score of 4-0.

The Thunder put up a strong defensive effort in the first period finishing the opening stanza with both teams still scoreless. During that time junior goaltender Brett Young (Livonia, Mich.) weathered the Green Knights' attack amazingly turning away all of the oppositions 12 shots on goal.

St. Norbert flexed changed the course of the game early in the second period, taking the 1-0 lead. The goal came in breakaway fashion with two Green Knights getting behind the bulk of the Thunder defense and scoring the goal with on a 2-on-1 opportunity.

The number three team in the nation would not look back scoring two more goals in the second to take a 3-0 lead into the second intermission before adding a final power-play goal in the third period for the 4-0 win.

Senior T.J. Black was a brick wall in net for St. Norbert turning aside every Trine opportunity in the contest.

The Thunder fall to 1-3-1 overall and 1-2 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) following the loss. St. Norbert improves to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the NCHA.

Trine will look to bounce back tomorrow, Nov. 10 when they host Finlandia University for another NCHA contest. The puck drops at 3 p.m.
