Men's Hockey Defeated by Nationally-Ranked Bulldogs

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Trine University men's hockey team hung tough for two periods but ultimately fell to host Adrian College by the score of 5-0.

The Bulldogs, who are ranked second nationally, scored the first goal of the game in the 12th minute of the contest to go up 1-0.

Following the goal, the Thunder played strong defense for the rest of the first period and all of the second, keeping Adrian from building on their lead. Junior Brett Young (Livonia, Mich.) led the way in that effort finishing the first two periods with 32 saves. He would finish the game with 42 saves.

Adrian pulled away in the third behind two power-play goals to finish the game with the 5-0 victory.

Offensively the Thunder struggled, but sophomore Alex Johanson (Skokie, Ill.) led the way with five shots on goal in the contest.

Trine falls to 2-3 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) and 2-4-1 overall. They will once again face off with Adrian tomorrow, Nov. 17. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. in the Thunder Ice Arena.
