PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Trine University men's hockey team was defeated by host Chatham University by the score of 5-0.
The Thunder offense was unable to get past the Chatham goalies despite outshooting the opposition 38-23 in the contest. Two Trine players led the way with seven shots-on-goal apiece. Sophomore Blake Robertson (South Lyon, Mich.) and freshman Brent Jones (Brighton, Mich.) both reached the tally in the game.
The Cougars excelled on special teams in the contest to gain the victory, scoring two shorthanded goals in the first period and added two power-play goals in the rest of the contest for the lopsided victory.
Junior Brett Young (Livonia, Mich.) picks up the loss for the Thunder in net after allowing the first two goals in the contest.
Trine falls to 2-8-1 overall following the loss. They will faceoff with Chatham again tomorrow, Sunday, Dec. 16 at 1:20 p.m.
