Aurora Too Much for Men's Hockey

ANGOLA, Ind. -- Visiting Aurora University was too much for the Trine University NCAA men's hockey team, defeating them by the score of 7-1.

The Spartans scored the opening goal of the game just over a minute into the contest to take the 1-0.

Five minutes later the Thunder took advantage of a power-play opportunity to tie the game. Freshman forward Garrett Hallford (McKinney, Texas) scored the goal from just inside the faceoff circle. Junior Henry Hearon (Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore Alex Johanson (Skokie, Ill.) added assists on the attempt.

Aurora retook the lead in the 16th minute of the period and took the 2-1 lead into the first intermission. From that point on the game was all Aurora as the team scored five more goals in the game to take the 7-1 victory.

Trine falls to 8-12-2 overall and 4-10-1 in Northern Collegiate Athletic Association (NCHA) play. They will take the ice again tomorrow, Feb. 2 when they take on Lake Forest College at 7 p.m.
