Men's Hockey Ends Season on High Note

MEQUON, Wis. – The Trine University men's hockey team scored three unanswered goals and held on to defeat host Concordia University Wisconsin by the score of 3-2 in their final game of the season.

The Thunder scored their first goal in just the fourth minute of play. Sophomore Blake Robertson (South Lyon, Mich.) tallied the goal with Michael Meisenbacher (Basking Ridge, N.J.) and Gianni Vitali (Grand Rapids, Mich.) adding assists.

The team made it 2-0 in the 17th minute of the period. This time the goal came from freshman Brandon Krumpschmid (Grand Rapids, Mich.) his third of the season. Classmate Aryan Batra (Franklin, Mich.) added the assist, his first point of the season.

Trine would take the 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

They extended the lead eight minute into the second period. Once again Robertson came up big on the power-play, tallying his second goal of the game and his 11th of the season. Freshmen Brent Jones (Brighton, Mich.) and Garrett Hallford (McKinney, Texas) added assists on the goal.

The Falcons scored their first of the contest in the 15th minute of the period and Trine entered the second intermission up 3-1.

Concordia added another in the ninth minute of the third but was unable to tie the game and the Thunder would leave town with a 3-2 victory.

Trine ends the season with a 10-13-2 record overall having gone 6-11-1 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA). The finish marks a four-win improvement, both overall and in the NCHA, over last year, their inaugural season.
