ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University men's hockey team posted a resounding 5-1 victory over visiting Hamline University to finish the weekend 1-1.

Just like the night before the Thunder started the contest with an offensive blast. They scored their first goal of the contest in the fourth minute. Sophomore forward Brandon Krumpschmid (Grand Rapids, Mich.) scored the goal while junior Chris Garrity (Stafford, Va.) and freshman Jeff Schrattner (Barrie, Ontario) added assists.

Trine would then add two power-play goals to finish off the first period with a 3-0 lead. Junior Blake Robertson (South Lyon, Mich.) recorded the first at the 13-minute mark and sophomore Garrett Hallford (McKinney, Texas) added another just short of the 17-minute mark.

The second period featured a dropoff in goal scoring but the Thunder did take advantage of another power-play opportunity to add to their lead. This time freshman Brett Piper (Cartier, Manitoba) tallied the goal with Krumpschmid and sophomore Hunter Payment (Monroe, Mich.) added assists.

The lone goal of the period gave the Thunder a 4-0 lead heading into the second intermission.

In the third period, both teams tallied a goal with the Thunder's coming from junior Corey Robertson (South Lyon, Mich.) with Payment and freshman Justin Hendrickson (Marquette, Mich.) adding assists. The Pipers added their lone goal of the contest in the eleventh minute.

The 5-1 victory gives Trine a 1-1 record following their first weekend of competition. They will head into Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) competition when they take the ice again, traveling to Lawrence Univesity for a pair of contests. The first comes on Friday, November 8 with puck drop scheduled for 8 p.m. EST.
