Men's Hockey Nabs Last-Minute Game-Winning Goal

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Trine University men's hockey team came up with a last-minute goal to break the stalemate and take a 1-0 victory over host Lawrence University in the team's first Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) contest of the season.

Both teams played 59 minutes of shutdown defense, neither surrendering a goal. While both teams ended the contest on equal footing when it came to power-play opportunities, both had five in the contest, neither was able to capitalize on the advantage.

Trine finally broke the stalemate at the 19:02 mark of the third period. Freshman Brad Jenion (Macclesfield, Great Britain) tallied the game-winner with senior Henry Hearon (Chicago, Ill.) and freshman Jeff Schrattner (Barrie, Ontario) adding assists.

Senior netminder Brett Young (Livonia, Mich.) recorded his first shutout of the season. He ended the contest with 24 saves.

The Thunder improve to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in NCHA play following the victory. They will face off with Lawrence again tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 9 with opening puck drop scheduled for 5 p.m. EST.
