Men's Hockey Bounces Back Against Falcons

MEQUON, Wis. – A two-goal second spurred the Trine University men's hockey team to a 3-2 victory over their hosts from Concordia University Wisconsin. The win gives the team their first points in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) regular season standings.

The Falcons scored the first goal of the game just over three minutes into the opening stanza. The goal gave them a 1-0 lead which they took into the first intermission. Freshman Kyle Kozma recovered well from the early goal finishing the period, his lone of the day, with ten saves.

The Thunder adjusted during the intermission and quickly brought the offense to bear in the second period. Senior Brendan Prappas scored the first goal for the team just 55 seconds in to the period. The unassisted goal tied the game.

Just under five minutes later the team took their first lead of the contest. This time senior Jared Domin scored the goal with freshmen Josh Wright and Sam Antenucci adding assists.

The 2-1 lead lasted for ten minutes before the Falcons took advantage of a power-play opportunity to tie the game again. The 2-2 score lasted into the second intermission.

Prappas scored again in the seventh minute of the third period with senior Brett Tierney adding an assist. The goal gave the team the 3-2 lead which they held onto for the rest of the period to finish with the win.

Junior Shane Brancato entered the game at the start of the second period and finished out the contest in net. He receives credit for the victory and finished with five saves.

Trine improves to 3-2-0 overall and 1-2-0 in NCHA play following the win. They will faceoff with Concordia Wisconsin again tomorrow, Saturday, November 12. The game is set to start at 5 p.m. ET.
