Men's Hockey Records Shutout Against Marian

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Trine University men's hockey team finished off the sweep of their hosts from Marian (Wis.) University with a 5-0 victory. Senior Frank Trazzera led the way with three points while freshman Sam Antenucci recorded two goals as the team secured three more points toward the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) standings.

Fifth-year senior Garrett Hallford continued his strong weekend with the first goal of the game coming at the 45 second mark. Seniors Justin Meers and Trazzera added assists on the goal. It was the long goal of the first period, with the Thunder taking the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

The same line also combined for the lone goal of the second. Meers scored the tally in the 14th minute of the period with Trazzera and Hallford adding assists. Despite only scoring the one goal Trine exerted their will in the period, outshooting the Sabres 13-6.

Two goals in a 17 second stretch of the third period put the game out of reach for the home side. Antenucci scored his first at the 9:17 mark of the period with assists from senior Brett Piper and junior Jackson Clark. Then at the 9:34 mark sophomore Kyle Watson scored with Trazzera and senior Brendan Prappas assisting.

Antenucci iced the game with an empty-net goal in the 18th minute of the period giving the team their final 5-0 lead. Freshman Josh Wright added an assist.

Sophomore Cristian Wong-Ramos recorded the first shutout of his career with the win in net. He recorded 28 saves in the game.

Trine improves to 6-5-1 overall and 4-4-0 in NCHA play. They will continue their season when they host Stevenson University on Friday, December 9. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
