Price Named NCHA Player of the Month

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) has announced that Bobby Price has been named the Men's Player of the Month for January. The junior becomes the first member of the Trine University men's hockey team to earn the award.

Price finished the month with the most goals scored among conference players with six. He also tied atop the conference with the most multi-point games, finishing with four. He added five assists to finish with the third highest point total in the conference with 11.

The full interview with Price can be viewed on the NCHA website.

The Thunder finished the month with a 6-1-0 overall record and a 5-1-0 record in NCHA play while reaching new heights on the national stage, moving as high as ninth in the USCHO.com coaches poll.

They started the month with a 5-4 overtime win in a non-conference contest against the nation's third-ranked team from Adrian, with their lone loss of the stretch coming to Aurora, who currently sits fourth in the NCHA standings.

The Thunder enter the final week of regular season in a battle for the NCHA Peters Cup, given to the regular season champion. Currently Trine sits at 37 points, with Adrian ahead with 41 and St. Norbert just behind at 36. The Thunder will secure their first ever Peters Cup with at least five points (a regulation and an overtime win) against Adrian this weekend.

The team has already secured home ice for the first round of the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs, unable to finish lower than fourth.

Trine will travel to face the Bulldogs on Friday, February 9 with opening puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m. They will host the second half of the doubleheader on Saturday, February 10 also with a 7 p.m. start.
