Thunder Fall to Undefeated Wooster

DEFIANCE, OHIO—Undefeated Wooster proved too much for the Trine men's lacrosse team as the Thunder fell to the Flying Scots 16-2 Wednesday night at Defiance College.

Wooster outshot Trine 37-20 on the night and scored the first six goals of the game. Tom Herold scored five goals to lead the way for the Flying Scots. Josh Herold and PJ Dallman each scored two goals, while Max Rubin won 12-of-19 faceoffs and notched eight ground balls. Andrew Walters (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./University of Detroit Jesuit) and Paul Carlquist (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) each scored for Trine. The Thunder fall to 0-6. Wooster remains perfect at 6-0.

Jordan Backer (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) won 4-of-5 faceoff attempts and picked up five ground balls for Trine. Josh Herold added four assists to go along with his two goals for Wooster.

Tom and Josh Herold combined for all seven of their goals in the first half to stake Wooster to the 11-2 halftime lead. Wooster outshot Trine 26-5 in the first half. Helping key the scoring and possession for Wooster were 11 faceoff wins in 15 attempts.

Trine returns to action this Saturday, Mar. 22 when they travel to Mount Union. Face-off is set for 2:00 p.m. CDT.
