Ward Named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week

ANGOLA, Ind.-- Trine's Chris Ward has been named the MIAA Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Ward (Oak Lawn, Ill./St. Rita) scored five goals, picked up three ground balls and caused a turnover that led to a goal in the Thunder's 11-10 loss to Alma last week. The junior scored four of his goals in the third quarter as Trine fought back from a four-goal deficit to tie the game entering the final period. Ward, a First-Team All-MIAA selection last year, is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time this season and the first time in his career.

Ward is having another solid season on the heels of his all-conference selection last year. The midfielder has scored 10 goals in conference play, tied for second in the MIAA. Overall, Ward has scored 18 goals and notched one assist this season. He has caused seven turnovers and notched 17 ground balls on the year.

Trine will host Calvin on Senior Night this Tuesday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. The Thunder carry a 2-7 overall record into the contest. The team will honor its senior class as the team's seniors play the final home contest of their Trine careers.
