Thunder Fall at MIAA-Leader Albion

ALBION, Mich.-- The Trine men's lacrosse team dropped a 15-5 decision to MIAA-leader Albion Saturday afternoon in Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.

A five-goal run in the middle quarters helped the Britons gain seperation as they outscored Trine 9-3 over the second and third periods. Alexander Dziewit notched a six-point afternoon, with three goals and three assists to lead the Albion attack. Zach Hubbell scored a team-high four goals. Kevan Barissi (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central) and Chris Ward (Oak Lawn, Ill./St. Rita) each scored twice to pace the Thunder attack. Trine fell to 3-8 overall, 1-4 in MIAA play. Albion improved to 8-5 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

G.T. Youpel (Chicago Ridge, Ill./St. Rita) notched a goal and assist, while Jake Ahearn (Naperville, Ill./Naperville) added an assist. Travis Lores (Kildeer, Ill./Lake Zurich) made 12 saves in net for the Thunder.

Joel Hedemark picked up three goals and an assist for Albion. Joe Braley scored two goals and notched an assist, while Tim Urso and Cameron Braun each notched two-point afternoons with a goal and assist.

The Britons outshot the Thunder by a 42-26 margin and won 17-of-23 face-offs to consistently establish possession. Albion converted 2-of-3 extra-man opportunities while holding Trine to a 2-of-8 effort on the man-advantage.

Albion scored three of the first four goals, but Trine fought back. Barissi scored late in the first quarter to cut the deficit to one, while Ward added an early second quarter goal to tie the score.

The Britons took over from there, scoring four in a row before the half and the next five goals overall. Trine would get no closer than four the rest of the afternoon.

Trine concludes the season Wednesday, April 22 at Adrian. Face-off is slated for 7 p.m.
