Men's Lacrosse Announces 2017 Schedule

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine men's lacrosse team has released its 2017 schedule, the team announced today.

The season opens with six consecutive non-conference contests. The Thunder open with a Mar. 1 matchup against Mount St. Joseph. Trine will then hit the road for four straight road games, made up of matchups against Dubuque, Wilmington (Ohio), Hendrix and Concordia Chicago. The Thunder earned victories over Wilmington and Concordia Chicago last season. The Hendrix matchup will come on the team's spring break trip to Arkansas.

Non-conference play wraps up with a home contest against Heidelberg (Mar. 29). The Student Princes are a first-year program. Both of Trine's home non-conference contests come on Wednesday nights, with face-offs scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The Thunder will enter conference play looking to build upon its best effort as a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Last year, Trine finished the season with a 5-2 record in conference play and totaled an overall record of 8-6.

MIAA play will see the Thunder host Adrian, Olivet and Hope. The matchup with Hope will be the final game of the regular season. Trine clinched the No. 3 seed in the MIAA Tournament with a win over the Flying Dutchmen on the last day of the season in 2016. The conference slate also sees the Thunder make road trips to face Kalamazoo, Calvin and defending MIAA champion Albion.

The Thunder will look to carry over its nationally-acclaimed defensive success from last season. Trine finished ninth in the country in scoring defense, allowing a program record 6.86 goals per game. Trine allowed two fewer goals per game in MIAA play than any other team in the conference. The team also finished 14th in the nation in man-down defense.

Travis Lores (Kildeer, Ill. / Lake Zurich) ranked sixth in the nation in goals-against average and was an All-MIAA First Team honoree last season. The Thunder had six players earn all-conference honors last season and will return three All-MIAA performers this spring.
