Putman Named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week

FREELAND, Mich. -- Trine's Conner Putman has been named the MIAA Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced today.

Putman (Ridgefield, Conn. / Ridgefield) scored a career-high four goals to lead the Thunder to a 15-2 victory over Heidelberg last week. The first of Putman's goals ignited a run of 13-consecutive Trine goals that turned an early 2-1 lead into a rout. He added two more goals in the first half. Putman is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

Putman has seen an increased role in his sophomore campaign this year. He has already set career-highs with seven goals and three assists. He has scored one man-up goal and started five games.

Trine is off to a 4-2 start to the season and has won back-to-back games by double digits. The Thunder lead the MIAA and rank 17th in the nation with a plus-6.50 goals per game scoring margin. The team also leads the MIAA in scoring offense at 13.33 goals per game.

Trine opens MIAA play Saturday, Apr. 8 with a home contest against Alma. Faceoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium.
