ANGOLA, IND.  --  Senior Jordan Lelito (West Chicago, Ill./West Chicago) scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the Trine University men's lacrosse team to a 6-4 victory against the University of Dubuque (Iowa) at Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium.

Sophomore Justin Gearig (Vicksburg, Mich./Vicksburg) also recorded a multi-point day with a goal and an assist.  Junior Eric Peal (Imperial, Mo./Seckman), sophomore Brent Farrugia (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) and junior Neil Orr (Lombard, Ill./Montini Catholic) all recorded a goal scored in the win.

Sophomore Joseph Steigmeyer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) got his fourth win of the season playing all 60 minutes in net allowing four goals and making 11 saves.

Dubuque (4-5) scored the first goal of the game at the 13:46 mark of the first quarter, but Trine (5-2) then tallied the next two goals beginning with Lelito's first goal of the game at the 12:33 mark, followed by a marker by Gearig 21 seconds later to give the Thunder a 2-1 advantage.  The Spartans later tied the game with just over three minutes to go in the opening period and regained the lead just before the end of the period to lead 3-2 after the first 15 minutes.

In the second quarter, Trine scored the only goal of the period early when Peal found the back of the net at the 13:29 mark.  Neither team would score the rest of the way as the two teams went into the half tied at, 3-3.

Trine added two more goals in the third quarter as part of a 3-0 run with the go-ahead goal coming from Orr with 12:08 to play in the frame to lead, 4-3.  Lelito then recorded his second goal of the game at the 8:13 mark to extend the margin to, 5-3, heading into the final quarter.

The Spartans pulled to within a goal with a score with 8:56 to go in regulation to make it a 5-4 game.  Six minutes later, the Thunder added an insurance run on a turnover caused by Farrugia who then went coast-to-coast and put a shot past the Dubuque netminder to increase the margin to 6-4.  The goal by Farrugia would be the final goal of the game for either team the rest of the way as Trine went on to claim the 6-4 victory.

Trine is next scheduled to host the Milwaukee (Wisc.) School of Engineering next Saturday, Mar. 31 at 3 p.m. at Zollner Stadium.
