Konicek Named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week

ANGOLA, IND.  --  Trine University men's lacrosse player Jack Konicek (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association "Defensive Athlete of the Week."

The Thunder posted a pair of victories last week that included a 14-10 win against Adrian (Mich.) College and a 12-10 victory against Kalamazoo (Mich.) College.

Individually, Konicek went 23-of-28 in face-offs against the Bulldogs and 13-of-23 against the Hornets, finishing 36-of-51 overall for the week for a 70.5 percentage.  Additionally, Konicek picked up a total of 21 ground balls in the two games.

Konicek also put his name on the scoresheet offensively in the win against KZOO with a goal, his first of the season.

Trine is scheduled to travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. on Saturday (Apr. 17) for a matchup against Calvin University.  The two teams are set to square off at 3 p.m.
