Visiting Ohio Northern Too Much for Men's Lacrosse

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University men's lacrosse team returned home for their first home game of the season and ran into a tough squad from Ohio Northern University, falling 13-3.

The Polar Bears started the scoring quickly in the contest, coming up with the opening goal in the first minute of play. They would build a 4-0 lead, before the Thunder would finally find the back of the net with 3:31 remaining in the first period. Junior Noah Markus (Woodbury, Minn. / East Ridge) scored the goal for the team cutting the lead to 4-1.

After a final goal for the opposition the team would head to the first break with a 5-1 score.

Ohio Northern would score two more in the second, with Trine only netting one. Markus would score the lone goal for the team with a unassisted man-up attempt with five minutes left in the period.

The second half was more of the same, with the polar bears outscoring the home squad 6-1 on the way to the 13-3 win. Trine sophomore Aiden Theobald (Waveland, Miss. / St. Stanislaus) would score the lone goal of the half for the team.

Defensively the team was paced by senior Dave Keptner (Midland, Mich. / H.H. Dow) who finished the game with eight caused turnovers, shattering the program's single game record in the category, and nine groundballs.

The team falls to 3-1 following the loss. They will continue their season when they travel to face DePauw University on Sunday, March 20 for a 2 p.m. contest.
