Thunder Cruise to Victory over Centenary

ANGOLA, Ind. – Kramer Zastrow led the way with five goals as the Trine University men's lacrosse team cruised to a 17-1 victory over visiting Centenary College of Louisiana.

The Thunder wasted no time putting the first goal on the board. Peter Piccillo scored the tally in the first minute of play, it would ultimately be his only goal, but he added two assists for three points. Patrick Doyle scored a few minutes later to give the team a 2-0 lead.

That score lasted until the final minutes of the quarter, when Trine added three more goals to take a 5-0 lead into the first break. In the second the team Zastrow started off with three straight goals before Chris Molnar scored one final goal to give the team a 9-0 lead at halftime.

Zastrow scored four goals during the half, while Justin Scheberle and JJ Boos each added one. Aiden Theobald had a pair of assists in the second period.

Noah Markus opened the second half with a goal to build a 10-0 lead. The Gents responded with their lone goal of the game with just over nine minutes left in the quarter. Will Gonia and Zastrow each added one for Trine to make the score 12-1 at the end of three quarters.

The offensive torch passed to Riley Fischer for the final period, with the freshman scoring three goals in the period enough to finish second on the team. Mitchell Voglewede and Theobald each had a goal in the stretch to build the final 17-1 score.

The team had a great day in the faceoff circle with three student-athletes combining for to win 18 of 22 opportunities. Jack Konicek went 12 for 15 with Sean Kohloff adding four for five and Carson Carteaux going two for two.

The Thunder improve to 4-5 overall after the lopsided victory. They will continue their season on Sunday, March 24 when they host Spalding University for their senior day contest. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
