ADRIAN, MICH.-- Adrian scored two first-half goals to defeat Trine, 2-0, in MIAA-action Tuesday night at Docking Stadium.
An own goal off a Thunder player and a goal by Nick Minshall provided all the offense the Bulldogs would need on the evening. Adrian keeper Lino Taormina stopped both Trine shots on goal to earn the shutout. Taormina entered the match leading the conference in saves per game. The Thunder mustered 10 shots overall to the Bulldogs' nine. Trine falls to 3-5-1 overall and 0-3 in the MIAA. Adrian improved to 4-3-1 overall, 1-1-1 in conference play.
Minshall got the Bulldogs on the board at the 15:31 mark of the match, scoring off a long pass into the box by Sean Cain. The goal was Minshall's fourth of the season. An own goal off Trine at the 31:17 mark provided the final scoring margin.
Chris Stewart (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester) made three saves while playing the full 90 minutes for Trine.
The Thunder return to action this Saturday, Sept. 27 when they host Alma at 2:30 p.m. at Weaver Field.
