Thunder Fall at no. 14 Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH.-- No. 14-ranked Calvin controlled the action from start to finish in a 7-0 victory over Trine Wednesday afternoon at Zuidema Field.

MIAA leading scorer Travis Vegter scored four goals to bring his season-total to 12 tallies. Stephan Hooker added two goals and assisted on two others for the Knights. Calvin outshot Trine by a 29-2 margin. The Knights improve to 9-2 overall and 5-0 in the MIAA. Trine falls to 3-7-1 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

The Knights scored early and often, with five goals in the game's first 33:31. Vegter and Hooker each notched two goals in the first half, with Taylor Pruis adding the other tally. Hooker assisted on both of Vegter's first half goals.

Vegter added two goals in the second half for the final margin. The seven goals scored by Calvin were the most allowed in a match by Trine this season.

Trine returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 4 when they travel to Kalamazoo for a 2:30 p.m. match.
