KALAMAZOO, MICH.-- Kalamazoo shut out Trine, 3-0, in MIAA men's soccer action Saturday afternoon at MacKenzie Field.
The Hornets outshot Trine by a 24-3 margin. Joshua Robison, Emerson Talanda-Fischer, and Jackson Greenstone each scored goals to lead the Kalamazoo attack. Beau Prey earned the shutout with three saves. Kalamazoo improved to 5-4-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the MIAA with the victory. The Thunder fall to 3-8-1 overall, 0-6 in conference matches.
Robison got the Hornets on the board in the 11th-minute as he got loose in the box and scored off a feed from Werner Roennecke. Talanda-Fischer added a goal in the closing minute of the first half off a pass from Nicholas Shabino.
Greenstone added an unassisted insurance goal in the second half for the final margin.
Chris Stewart (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester) made eight saves in net for the Thunder.
Trine returns to action this Tuesday, Oct. 7 when they host Albion at 4 p.m.
