Thunder Fall at Hope

HOLLAND, MICH.-- The Trine men's soccer team was shut out at Hope, 2-0, Saturday night at the Van Andel Soccer Complex.

The Dutch scored two goals in the first half, which proved too much for the Thunder to overcome. Gavin Midlam and Josh Hagene each scored to lead the Hope attack, while Ethan Beswick made three saves in net to earn the shutout. The Flying Dutchmen outshot Trine by a 21-6 margin. The Thunder fall to 4-9-1 overall and 1-7 in the MIAA. Hope is now 11-3 overall, 6-2 in conference matches.

Midlam put the Dutch on the board just 3:27 into the contest on an unassisted goal from seven yards out. Hagene added a second unassisted goal, his sixth of the season, at the 16:16 mark. That proved more than enough for Hope to earn the victory.

Chris Stewart (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester) made three saves for the Thunder.

Trine returns to action this Wednesday, Oct. 15 when they host Olivet at 4 p.m.
