Thunder Wrap-Up Home Slate with Loss to Hornets

ANGOLA, IND.-- Trine fell to Kalamazoo 3-0 Wednesday afternoon at Weaver Field in the final home match of the season for the Thunder.

Emerson Talanda-Fischer, Cal Kirchen and Roger Mason Darlin each scored a goal to provide the offense for the Hornets, while Beau Prey made five saves in net to earn the shutout. Kalamazoo outshot Trine by a 22-10 margin, and produced 10 corner kick opportunities to two for the Thunder. The Hornets improved to 10-6-2 overall, 8-4-1 in conference matches. Trine falls to 5-13-1 overall, 2-11 in MIAA play.

Talanda-Fischer got Kalamazoo on the board 12:20 into the contest, heading in a corner kick off the foot of Kyle Hernandez for his second goal of the season.

Kirchen added an insurance goal just over two minutes into the second half, burying a low shot off a pass from Spencer MacDonald. Darling punched in a rebound off a shot by Brendan Groggel for the final goal of the match.

Chris Stewart (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester) made four saves for Trine. Stewart needs five saves to become the school's leader since joining NCAA Division III in 2004. The senior has 284 saves in his Thunder career.

Trine concludes the season this Saturday, Nov. 1 when they travel to Albion for a match at 2:30 p.m.
