HOLLAND, Mich.-- The Trine men's soccer team was defeated by Hope, 1-0 in MIAA-action Saturday night in Van Andel Stadium.

David Porte's goal early in the second half provided the only scoring of the match. Isaac Braak picked up the assist. Joseph Fifer earned the shutout in net for the Dutch. Ian Jindrich (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) made five saves in net for the Thunder. Trine saw its two-match winning-streak halted and is 5-6-1 overall, 2-4 in the MIAA. Hope improved to 5-6 overall and 2-4 in conference play.

Porte's goal at the 4:58 mark of the second half proved to be all the Flying Dutchmen would need. The goal was Porte's fourth of the season.

Trine opens the second half of the MIAA this Tuesday, Oct. 6 at Alma. The match is slated to begin at 4 p.m. The Thunder finished the first half of the conference slate in a three-way tie for fifth place.
