Lang named MIAA Men's Soccer Player of the Week

FREELAND, Mich.-- Trine's Nick Lang has been named the MIAA Men's Soccer Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Lang (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) had a hand in all five Thunder goals as the team finished 1-1 on the week. The senior scored two goals, including the game-winner, and dished out a pair of assists in Wednesday's 4-2 victory over Adrian. The effort marked the first six-point performance by a Trine player since 2012. He followed that up by scoring the lone Thunder goal in Saturday's 2-1 loss at Kalamazoo. Lang is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

Lang has been a dynamic threat for the Thunder attack this season, posting career-best numbers across the board. The senior is ranked second in the conference in overall scoring with 22 points. His eight goals rank third, while his six assists are second-most in the MIAA. The eight goals are tied for the fourth-most in a season in the Division III era at Trine (2004-present).

The strong senior campaign has moved Lang into the ranks of the best Thunder performers since the school joined Division III. Lang's 12 career assists rank third during that time frame, while his 34 points rank fifth. He has played in 73 matches, with 54 career starts to his credit.

Trine hosts Albion tomorrow in a match that could prove to be big in the race for the fourth and final MIAA playoff spot. The Thunder and Britons each enter tomorrow's match one-point back of fourth-place. The match is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
