Thunder Drop Road Contest at Olivet

OLIVET, Mich.-- An early first half goal was the difference as the Trine men's soccer team was defeated by Olivet, 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Cutler Athletic Complex.

Gregory Petty scored 15:26 into the contest to provide the only scoring of the match. Ryan Grashik made four saves to earn the shutout for the Comets. Ian Jindrich (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) made two saves for the Thunder. Trine fell to 7-10-1 overall, 4-8 in the MIAA. Olivet improved to 4-13-1 overall, 3-8-1 in conference matches.

Petty scored off a pass from Matthew Henderso.n. The goal was Petty's fourth of the season.

Trine was able to sustain pressure in the second half but couldn't break through. The Thunder outshout Olivet 12-3 in the second half and 14-11 overall. Trine also produced eight corner kick opportunities to Olivet's four.

The loss drops Trine one point behind Hope in the race for the fourth and final MIAA playoff spot. The Thunder will host the Flying Dutchmen this Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 4 p.m. at Weaver Field.
