FREELAND, Mich.-- Trine's Nick Lang as been named to the All-MIAA Men's Soccer Second Team, the conference announced Tuesday.
Lang (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) was among four midfielders named to the second team. The senior led the Thunder in scoring and ranked fifth overall in the conference in all matches with 24 points. The all-conference honor is the first of his career. Lang's goal-scoring and passing ability paced the Trine attack all season as the Thunder placed sixth in the MIAA. Trine finished the season 8-11-1 overall and 5-9 in conference matches.
Lang's season was one of the best by a Thunder player since Trine joined NCAA Division III in 2004. His nine goals and six assists are each the second-most by a Thunder player in a single season during that time span. Four of Lang's goals were game-winners. He was named MIAA Player of the Week after a three-goal, two-assist performance over the span of matches against Adrian and Kalamazoo.
All of Lang's numbers this season were career-highs. He concluded his career with 36 points, coming on 12 goals and 12 assists. His dozen helpers are tied for the third-most of any player since the team joined Division III. Lang played in 77 matches in his Trine career, which included 53 starting assignments.
