Men's Soccer Picked Seventh in MIAA Preseason Poll

FREELAND, Mich.The Trine men's soccer team was selected to finish in seventh place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association in the coaches' preseason poll that was released Monday.

Trine received 40 votes in the poll, three points behind Albion and five points behind Adrian. The Thunder finished the 2015 season in sixth place with a 5-9 conference record. Trine was 8-11-1 overall.

The Thunder returns senior goalkeeper Ian Jindrich (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley). Jindrich played in 19 games with a 1.50 goals against average and .752 save percentage.

Trine will look to junior Bill Wilson (Mason, Mich./Mason) to continue to lead the Thunder offense. Wilson was third on the team in scoring last season with nine points, including three goals and three assists.

The Thunder opens its season Sept. 2 at Anderson (Ind.). Trine will begin home play on Sept. 7 when it plays host to Defiance at 7:30 p.m. at the Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium.

Calvin, the winner of the last nine MIAA titles, was picked as the league's preseason favorite. The complete results of the poll are listed below.
