Thunder Men's Soccer Draw in Home Opener

ANGOLA, Ind.-- The Trine men's soccer team drew to a 1-1 tie with Defiance College Wednesday night at Zollner Field.

The Thunder struck first early in the second half when Kurt Wysocki (Avon, Ohio / St. Edward) put in a feed from JT Plavchak (Goshen, Ind. / Goshen) right in front of the net. Defiance answered in the 81st minute with a goal from Nick Kleptz. Kleptz, Jacob Diffenderfer, and Ahmad Khalil all had two shots for Defiance, while Bill Wilson (Mason, Mich. / Mason) led Trine with five shots.

The Thunder outshot the Hornets 16 to nine. They also had six corner kicks to Defiance's two. Both goalkeepers – Clay Musgrave and Ian Jindrich (Aurora, Ill. / Metea Valley) – had five saves. Musgrave went to 0-2-1 for Defiance, and Jindrich went to 0-0-1 on the season.

The Thunder men return to action Friday, September 9, at Transylvania. Kickoff is at 5 p.m.
