Men's Soccer Falls to No. 18 Calvin

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine men's soccer team was defeated by No. 18 Calvin, 5-0, Wednesday afternoon at Weaver Field.

Trine's record goes to 0-7 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play and 0-10-2 overall. Calvin advances to 7-0 in MIAA play and 10-1 overall.

Early in the first half the Knights struck first with a goal by Stephan Hooker assisted by Jacob Witte. Hooker crossed the top of the box and beat the Trine goaltender on the left side of the net.

Late in the half, a header by Ian Adams put Calvin up 2-0 going into the second half of play. The header was assisted by Matt Hinds, who found Adams off a corner kick.

The Knights went on to score another three goals in the second half.

Mason Pelphrey (Portsmouth, Ohio/Clay) led the Trine offense with three shots. Kurt Wysocki (Avon, Ohio/St. Edward) also added one.

William Macedo (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) made three saves in goal for the Thunder.

The Thunder returns to action this Saturday Oct. 8, when it plays a MIAA match against Albion. Match is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
