ANGOLA, Ind-- The Trine men's soccer team lost a 2-1 match to conference foe Albion Saturday afternoon at Weaver Field.
Trine held a 1-0 halftime lead thanks to a Ryan Bosse goal at in the 39th minute. After a blocked free kick, the Thunder got it back and Bosse beat the keeper in the left corner. Albion answered in the 67th minute on a Kyle Bourlier penalty kick, and then took the lead in the 86th minute when Aaron Smit slid to beat the defender to the ball and kicked it past the keeper.
Kyle Wainscott and Brec Musselman each had three shots for the Thunder, and Kurt Wysocki had two shots. Bourlier led the Britons with four shots, while Boddy Budlong had three.
Justin Kraft (6-6) had three saves for Albion, and William Macedo (0-7) stopped two shots for Trine. Both goalies also squashed numerous potential scoring opportunities.
It was a physical match, as both teams had 18 fouls, and there was a lot of contact throughout. A yellow card was also given to Trine's Damon Prifogle. Albion outshot the Thunder 11-10, while Trine had five corner kicks to the Britons' four.
Trine moves to 0-11-2 (0-8 MIAA) on the season. Albion now stands at 6-6 (5-3 MIAA) on the year.
The Thunder travel to Adrian Tuesday, October 11 for a 7 p.m. match. Their next home match is Saturday, October 15, against Hope. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
