Men's Soccer Falls to Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The Trine men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 game at Kalamazoo on Wednesday night.

The Hornets' Finn Johnson scored the first goal of the game at 16:18 of the first half off an assist by Brenden Groggel. Kalamazoo's Kyle Hernandez scored two goals in the second half to solidify the win.

Kyle Wainscott (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) led the Thunder offense with three shots, while Bill Wilson (Mason, Mich./Mason) and Trey Waagen (Horton, Mich./Hanover-Horton) each notched two. Ian Jindrich (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) was in net for Trine and made six saves.

Cal Kirchen and Roger Mason Darlin each had four shots for the Hornets. Hernandez added three. Griffin Hamel earned the win for Kalamazoo.

Kalamazoo outshot the Thunder 20 to nine, while the Hornets had six corner kicks to Trine's three. The Thunder was plagued with fouls totaling 18, while Kalamazoo had seven.

The Thunder returns to action on Oct. 22 when it will travel to Olivet for a 2:30 p.m. game.
