Trine Beats Huntington

ANGOLA, IND.  --  The Trine University men's soccer team continued its impressive start to the season with a 4-2 win against Huntington University in a non-conference matchup at Weaver Field.  The Thunder are off to their best start since the 2011 season when Trine went 6-0-2 through its first eight games.

Trine (6-1-1) scored the only points of the first half, beginning with an unassisted goal by Kurt Wysocki (Avon, Ohio/St. Edward) at the 13:15 minute mark.  The Thunder then added another goal just before the end of the period when Nooh Aljabaly (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) netted his first of two goals on the day during the 23rd minute to give the home team a 2-0 edge at the intermission.

The second half featured a pair of goals by both teams, including a goal for each via a penalty kick.  Huntington (5-3-1) started the scoring during the 54th minute with a goal that cut the Trine lead in half, 2-1.  The Thunder then posted the next two scores, starting with Aljabaly's second marker of the game, which turned out to be the game winner, at the 62:41 mark to increase the margin to 3-1.

The two teams then traded penalty kicks in the final 10 minutes with Ben Moricz (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) scoring for Trine at the 84:51 mark.  The Foresters scored their final goal at the 87:22 mark, but Trine already secured the victory and went on to post the 4-2 final.

Quinn O'Brien (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) played the entire game in goal for Trine and had three saves and allowed two goals in 90 minutes of work.

Trine will play its final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday, Sept. 26 when it travels to North Manchester, Ind. to take on the Spartans of Manchester University.  The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
